A Friday special: Child death in government care edition
Thank God for Peter McKay and Belinda Stronach.
Without them, other British Columbians and I might actually have noticed another scathing report on the Sherry Charlie tragedy from Child and Youth officer Jane Morley.
Instead, the report's release was tucked away today on a Friday, then buried under a steaming pile of crap from Ottawa.
This report focuses on how 3-year-old Jamie Charlie, Sherry's older brother, was still allowed to live with the pair's uncle, Ryan George, even after investigators knew Sherry's death was suspicious.
George was later convicted in Sherry's brutal beating death, although he had first told investigators Jamie had pushed her down the stairs.
But who needs to actually read the report. 182 pages! Here's the government press release instead.
