'Music saved my life in the first place'
Arn Chorn-Pond, a Khmer Rouge survivor and the co-founder of an NGO that tries to preserve traditional Khmer music, is the subject of a new novel for American teens.
In a country where a quarter of the population died under the Khmer Rouge, each survivor has a unique story to tell. Now, Arn Chorn-Pond is trying to tell his story to a new audience.
"They would put a loud microphone so I can play into it, so that people in the countryside will hear music instead of hearing the screaming," he says, in this report for VOA.
